Automatic Pool Cleaners

Robotic Automatic Pool Cleaners

are driven by electric motors inside the unit. The electricity that powers the cleaner comes from a little transformer that you plug into an outdoor GFCI outlet. It vacuums debris into its own filter by a separate pump inside the unit. They usually have an on board computer chip that diagnosis any issues with the cleaner and helps to "learn" the shape of the pool. Robotic pool cleaners are the best when it comes to small debris and sand or silt situations. They are one of the only types of pool cleaners that not only scrubs the walls, but also the tile line on in ground pools. They also serve as a great supplemental way to circulate the water in your pool because of the powerful pump inside that vacuums the debris. While they are a little more in cost, they can make a great investment in the long run.

Automatic Suction-Side Cleaners
this type of cleaner relies on suction from your filter system to make it move and vacuum the debris off of the pool floor. There are several good points to this type of cleaner. They act like a moving main drain, when the cleaner is picking up debris off the bottom of your pool. It is also sucking water through your filtration system. This allows water from all areas of your pool to be drawn through your filter system. Giving you more thorough filter coverage.

Since suction side cleaners draw debris right into your filter, they can remove much finer particles than a pool cleaner working off of your return and filtering with a bag. There is no need to install any additional plumbing or pumps, a suction-side pool cleaner is generally a less costly to install. If you are in an area where large debris rarely gets into your pool, then a suction-side cleaner may be a good choice for you.

                                         Pressure Side Cleaners

These use your pools water return or a secondary booster pump's return pressure to push the larger particles of dirt & debris into a bag on the cleaner. Fine dirt is just stirred up and eventually cleaned by the filter. The good thing about them is that they don’t tie up the skimmer so your surface gets cleaned. The drawback is that they are tying up your return line which can interfere with your circulation. Also, they are not removing the finer particles of dirt.  They are keeping it stirred up so the filter can get it eventually.
